Cami’s Blog: Sheer Brillance

Hi Everyone,
As the cold weather creeps in, I thought it would be a good time to discuss one easy (and elegant) way you can warm up your space.

Here at RIT, we design and install all types of window treatments. And we can motorize any window treatment – from shades to draperies. Over the last decade or so, we’ve spent the majority of our time doing sun shades in high-rise apartments in New York city. They function really well and do a spectacular job of protecting interiors (like rugs and artwork) from the sun. But let me tell you, they are so cold looking. And they don’t really add any style or design to a room. Most often, they disappear into a pocket and are topped with a small valance. This allows for those great city views.

Well, I’m here to tell you there’s a way you can have your view and your privacy plus color, softness and beauty. The way you do it…is with a gorgeous set of sheers. You wouldn’t believe the range of colors and patterns you can choose from. There are tons on the market today. My particular favorite is called a burn out sheer. These sheers feature a pattern that is “burnt out” of an opaque fabric. Here’s one fabulous example.

I also love a colored sheer with stripes. Like this one.

Today the fabric options are endless. You can also choose how you layer your window treatments. You can put a liner on a separate rod which can provide both privacy and sun protection. You can install a motorized sun shade behind the sheers. You can add side panels or let the sheers stand alone. Any way you do it…they’re going to add warmth and elegance to any room. And they won’t obstruct your view.

This is how I love draperies. Simple. Sophisticated. Functional. When done right, draperies can make a bold design statement.

Let me know if I can help design something spectacular for your home. You can reach me at Camille@roseintech.com.

Until next time…
Have a happy and a healthy holiday,
Cami
